The Museum of the Yellowstone is dedicated to telling the story of travel to and through Yellowstone National Park, and the Park’s influence on West Yellowstone and the Hebgen Lake Basin.

Mesa Falls

Upper Mesa Falls is a fee area ($5) that brings you face to face with the power and beauty of the last undisturbed waterfall on the Snake River. The walkways allow visitors to get close to the falls and experience the rushing water over a 116 foot drop. A rainbow is visible most mornings, as are the resident osprey, moose, and other wildlife. The visitor center has videos, historic displays, a museum of skins and skulls of local mammals and a trout aquarium. There is a gift shop in the visitor center. There are picnic areas and restrooms available. The fee is also your entry to Harriman State Park and Henry's Lake state park, both on the way to Yellowstone.

Yellowstone Giant Screen

Located at the west entrance of the Yellowstone National Park, the Yellowstone Giant Screen Theatre is a “must see” on your travel itinerary. At six stories tall, our 60′ x 80′ screen is the only certified Giant Screen Theatre in a twelve state area. The six track sound system and 4k digital projector guarantee a theatre experience you’ll never forget.

Playmill Theatre

Who would have thought that when the Playmill Theatre opened its doors for the firrst time on June 24th, 1964 that over 50 years later we would still be providing quality family entertainment today. Those that began this journey certainly were hoping that would be the case!

Beartooth Highway

Welcome to the Beartooth Highway – a National Scenic Byways All-American Road. This 68 mile byway winds its way through southwest Montana and northwest Wyoming and leads into Yellowstone National Park at its Northeast Entrance. Since opening to automobile travel in 1937 the Beartooth Highway has welcomed visitors from around the world – introducing them to one of the most diverse ecosystems accessible by auto in the United States.

Island Park Golfing

We are a 9-hole Golf Course with full amenities in beautiful Island Park Idaho, just 20 miles from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The course is open 7:30am to 8:00pm seven days a week, May-October. (weather permitting)

Virginia/Nevada City

All of Montana has the deepest pride and affection for Virginia City. No more colorful pioneer mining camp ever existed. Dramatic tales of the early days in this vicinity are legion. Rich placer diggings were discovered in Alder Gulch in the spring of 1863 and the stampede of gold seekers and their parasites was on! Sluices soon lined the gulch and various “cities” blossomed forth as trading and amusement centers for free-handed miners..

Firehole Swimming

The swimming hole in Firehole Canyon is one of two swimming areas inside Yellowstone National Park. The other area on the Boiling River has no facilities and is only open in late fall through winter because of water levels.
